Neighbors upset with Vreba-Hoff manure hauling 3.28
“We just want to be good neighbors.”
That’s a statement made by Vreba-Hoff Dairy spokespeople on many occasions, but not everyone in Medina Township is please with the company’s appearance in the neighborhood.
Grumbling was first heard in late December when construction got underway on a new 13-million gallon satellite manure lagoon. The storage pond was built on the south side of Packard Road, west of Bothwell. The situation has only worsened since then.
Once the lagoon was ready for use, tractors began hauling tankers of liquid manure from the company’s farms on Dillon Highway and U.S. 127 to avoid an overflow situation at those storage lagoons.
Tanker traffic has been nearly non-stop during daylight hours ever since, according to Packard Road resident Tyler Lockwood.
