Water problems encountered at Fayette school site 3.21
So far, construction crews at the building site of the new Gorham Fayette school building have used about a seventh of the project’s contingency fund.
During a brief meeting Monday, Jim Price of the Buehrer Group—the architectural firm overseeing construction—reported that workers had to use gravel to stabilize the bottom of a storm water retention pond, as well as install extra drainage tile in the area.
In all, the extra work siphoned about $60,000 from the $680,000 contingency fund. Last year, changes to a lift station due to a rising water table cost $40,000.
