Sports Round-up 8.20
DONAHUE RUN—Early registration has closed for annual Dennis Donahue Memorial Trot for a Track 5K, but runners and walkers are still welcome to sign up on race day.
A limited quantity of T-shirts will be available on race day.
The third annual run is scheduled at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Lyons ball park, with the one-mile fun walk following at 9:15.
More than 500 participants registered for the race and walk last year when $36,000 was raised for Evergreen Athletic Boosters’ project to help pay for the new running track at the high school.
In addition to the run, there are raffles, a 50/50 drawing, refreshments and other activities.

The event serves as a fund-raiser for Neal V. Singles Memorial Scholarship Fund.
As in the past, a pancake and sausage breakfast will be served to participants by volunteers from the Morenci Church of the Nazarene and custom medals will be awarded to the top three males and females in 13 age divisions.
The cost of the 5K run is $15 if registered before Sept. 10. After that, the price increases to $18. Registration for the one-mile fun run/walk costs $10 in advance and $12 on race day.
Those who pre-register will receive a commemorative T-shirt. There will be limited availability of shirts on race day.
Organizers of the event are seeking door prizes and sponsorship support from area businesses and individuals.
