Deer herd runs through town 11.26

Autumn Apger had to look twice last Tuesday evening to make sure she saw what she thought she saw.

She was driving south on Page Street and approaching East Locust when she saw a small herd of deer running into town on Locust Street. She counted seven in all—mostly bucks—and noticed they were being chased by someone in a loudly honking automobile.

She called 911, fearing that anyone out walking could be injured in a collision with a charging whitetail.

It was a head-slapper of a report for her husband, Ron, when he returned home.

“I was sitting out in my deer blind wondering where all the deer were,” he said.
