Arrest made in weapons charge 4.29.09

An Adrian man is in Lenawee County Jail on a concealed weapon charge following a fight in Morenci.

Morenci police chief Larry Weeks said officers were dispatched to the Lightning Quick convenience store on West Main Street at about 10 p.m. Sunday regarding a report of an assault.

A 21-year-old Morenci man told police he was punched in the face repeatedly and choked. The man said he knew the identity of his attacker and that he was in Wakefield Park.

An officer located the suspect and upon searching him, located a five-shot, .32 caliper pistol in his pants pocket, along with a prescription narcotic.

Chief Weeks said the suspect. Damien Allen Wortley, 30, of Adrian, did not a permit for the gun nor a prescription for the narcotics.

Wortley was arrested and lodged in the jail.
