Stair Library looking for old vinyl 5.20.09
Anybody who’s been wondering why they’ve been holding on to old vinyl record albums...the 33 1/3 version...can now feel perfectly justified in keeping what some would refer to as clutter—that is, if they’re willing to donate them to the library.
Stair Public Library needs a variety of items for use in a craft project for this year’s summer reading program. The theme is “Beats and Books! Music in the Library.”
Items needed include:
• About 200 record albums—The records won’t be returned; the covers will be put on display if they’re in good condition.
• Music CDs for decoration and crafts.
• Large oatmeal containers (42 ounces) are also needed, but smaller ones will work, too.
• Sequins, jewels and gems would also be welcome for use in craft projects.
Items can be brought to the library during regular hours: Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Open house registration day
The Summer Reading Program begins on a new note this year with an open house registration day Wednesday, June 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. Morenci’s Band Director Jamie DeVoe will lead a musical instrument petting zoo, children’s photos will be taken and games will be available to play.
Starting Monday, June 1, summer hours will be in effect through June, July and August. The only change is the library will close Mondays at 5 p.m. Regular hours resume Sept. 14.
New York Times best-selling author Elizabeth Berg will visit the library in person Saturday, June 20, at 3 p.m. Copies of her books are on display at the library; patrons are encouraged to read at least one before Berg’s visit and to make plans to attend her reading and book signing. Susan Bach of Waldenbooks will have books available for sale. Sign up at the library to order a copy.
