Canadian Pacific Holiday Train 12.15.2010
“I was walking through my home and something caught my eye out the window,” Tom said. “It was a beautifully lit train sitting there waiting for another train to pass.”
Every car of the train was bright with holiday lights. A lighted wreath was on the front of the engine and a Christmas tree fixed to the top.
Tom and his son, Logan, headed out for a closer look and arrived just as the train was moving back onto the main track.
Tom learned later that he got a close-up look at the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train making its annual trip.
The U.S. train left New York Nov. 26 and ends its journey Friday in Saskatchewan. The Canadian train is making its way from Quebec to British Columbia. Each train has entertainers that perform at scheduled stops.
The Holiday Train project began in 1999 in an effort to collect donations for food banks. Over the years, more than $4.8 million and 2.3 million pounds of food have been collected.
