Virginia Mae Colegrove, 91, of Main St., Fayette, died May 22, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born May 13, 1920, in Fayette, to the late Jerome and Willo Belle (Gleason) Kline. She married Leslie “Bus” Colegrove on Aug. 3, 1938, and he preceded her in death Aug. 17, 2000.
Virginia graduated from Gorham Fayette High School in 1938 and was a life-long resident of the Fayette community. She was also a life-long member of Fayette Christian Church-Disciples. Virginia is remembered for her gentle compassion toward people, her joy of playing cards and dominoes, and her love for her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Marjory (and Fred) Shadbolt, of Fayette; two sons, John (and Mary) Colegrove and Jeff (and Joyce) Colegrove, all of Fayette; a step-daughter, Connie (and Vern Harper) Vinton of Tecumseh, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Sherry Lynn Smith and Barbara Ann Schaffner; a great-grandson, Kellen Keiser; a son-in-law, Jon Schaffner; a step-grandaughter, Sandy Kish; two sisters, Marjorie Pound and Geneva Huntley; and four brothers, Clifford, George, Hubert, and Nelson Kline.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette, with Pastor Gene Sugg officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
