Kelly James Barber I, 48, of Lyons, Ohio, died Feb. 21, 2012, at the Toledo Hospital.
He was born June 21, 1963, in Morenci, Mich., to the late John and Norah Jane (Coffey) Barber. In March 1991, Kelly married Vickie Yancy Ayers.
Kelly was a 1982 graduate of Waldron High School, where he was a member of the football team and FFA. From 1985 to 1990 he was a member of the Morenci Fire Department.
He worked as a truck driver for various companies throughout his life. Some of Kelly’s memberships and commitments include a volunteer with the 180th Air National Guard, Family Readiness Group, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, 10-year advisor for the Fulton County 4-H, 10-year Assembly of God Royal Ranger Commander, vice-president and secretary for Winameg Sportsman’s Club, 12-year member of the Delta Assembly of God, and eight-year year member of the Calvary Assembly of God in Toledo.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and participating in historical reënactments with his wife. Most of all he loved Jesus and wanted his life to reflect the love of God.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Vickie; two sons, Gabriel and Kelly Barber II; his mother, Norah Jane Barber; five sisters, Theresa (and Fred) Gay, Nancy (and Jim) Bowen, Polly (and Ben) Fish, Kathy (and Dave) Vanlerberg, Shirley (and Don) Myers; a brother, Kevin (and Dawn) Barber; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Barber, grandparents and a great-nephew.
Funeral services are planned at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Delta Assembly of God, with Pastor Randy Trowbridge officiating. Interment will follow at Amboy Township Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Barnes Funeral Chapel in Delta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
