Borer, Mary Alice
Mary Alice Borer, 74, of Rochester, Ind., died Sept. 23, 2012, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born Oct. 23, 1937, in Metamora, Ohio, to Ralph H. and Alice Emmegene (Ries) Butler. On April 10, 1954, in Angola, Ind., she married Fredrick Leroy Borer and he survives.
Mary Alice was a housewife and a farmers wife. She drove a school bus for 10 years for Evergreen Schools in Metamora, Ohio, and later worked for Kelly Services.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was formerly involved with WIBC Bowling Association for 32 years. She was also active with the Ladies Altar Society at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church near Lyons.
In 1978, she returned to Evergreen High School in Metamora and earned a diploma. She then entered Northwest Tech and in 1981 received a three-year degree in secretarial/accounting. She was a 4-H leader for 10 years in Chesterfield Township, Ohio.
In addition to her husband, Mary Alice is survived by two daughters, Joyce Ilene (and Martin) Dominique of Orland Park, Ill., and Janice Anne Hawk of Rochester, Ind.; three sons, David Earl (and Mary) Borer of Fayette, Ohio, Donald Leroy (and companion Patricia) Borer of Monterey, Ind., and John Edward Borer of Fayette;14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, William (and Deanna) Butler of Lead, S.D.; a sister-in-law, Tina Butler of Toledo, Ohio; sisters, Jessie (and Joe) Malosh of Michigan; Gladys Gerardo of Liberty Center, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dolly Lubinski; a brother, Henry Butler; and a son-in-law, Randy Hawk.
Graveside services are planned at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (today), Sept. 26, at the Leiters Ford IOOF Cemetery, with the Rev. Bob Metzger officiating. Burial will follow at Leiters Ford Cemetery, Leiters Ford, Ind.
